RANDY KING 1945 – 2025

By Copper

The spanking community has lost another pioneer this week, with the passing of legendary film director Randy King at the age of 80. Born in the UK on September 17, 1945, he was raised near Seattle in Washington state. He received an advanced degree in music and while he made a living as a composer and arranger, often for major Hollywood studios, his secret passion was the male spanking community.

In the mid-1980’s, Randy met Mark Powers, the owner of the new Control-T Studios, and he began directing films for him. Randy’s style mostly used a single-camera, that he hand held and moved around the action in a fluid motion that has never been equalled. Randy once said that he focused on what interested him at that moment, varying the angles between the expressions of both the top and bottom while, of course, emphasizing the reddening buttocks. Over the years, Randy directed more than 30 videos for Control-T, until Mark sold the company in 1988.

In 1987, Randy directed “The Misadventures of Rusty“, which was the first video ever produced by the Santa Barbara Paddle Co. Later on, Randy directed several films for Man’s Hand Studios, including classics like “Kevin’s Dad” and the S.M.P.D. videos that he shot in the style of the popular “Cops” television series.

Besides directing spanking films, Randy was also one of the founders of the Moonburn Association, which held monthly male-spanking parties in Los Angeles.  Founded in 1995, the group will be celebrating their 30th anniversary this October, making them the longest running male-spanking event in the United States.

In August of 2023, Randy suffered a severe stroke, and after more than a month in the hospital he was released with no physical impairments, but cruelly, also no memory of his past. Chatting with him, he had no memory of his music, Control-T, Moonburn, or any of his friends. While we were happy to see that he had no pain, paralysis or speech impediment, it was like talking to a stranger. Randy lived out the rest of his life in his quaint house in Glendale, California, until he was hospitalized shortly before his passing.

Accolades aside, for those who knew Randy personally, he was a gentle, kind man who people were naturally attracted to. Parties at his home were infamous, and he was equally talented as a dominant or submissive – truly loving our community and diligently working to make it better.

Rest in peace, Randy…and Thank You!”

One Response to In Memory of Randy King

  1. Interesting, notice how different the actors looked in the 1980s, not just their clothes and hair, but they were all slim and fit, which is seldom the case these days. It must have been great for Randy to look up and see a top and a bottom who are both good-looking guys, and to work in what was the golden age of male spanking films. Rest in Peace, Randy, you have a great legacy.
