Bottom Line: Mixed Court

Shanghai of the late 19th and early 20th century was the witness to a unique event in history where East and West converged in an unprecedented legal experiment: the Shanghai Mixed Court. Two judges – one Chinese and one foreign – presided together over cases in Shanghai’s International Settlement Zone. While the two would have to navigate unfamiliar waters as they sought to bridge vastly different legal worlds – judicial corporal punishment was one area of common ground.

At BLS, we continue our journey of exploring corporal punishment traditions around the world through the perspective of our actors, who largely come from a younger generation than most of our fans. This week, we take a look at Spain as Hector sits down to interview Diego, followed by a session over the knee. Spain is not a country that immediately comes to mind for most when considering corporal punishment, which makes Diego’s perspective and experiences, as well as how they tie into his acting at BLS, all the more interesting.

This week, BLS has its regular update, along with two special bonus releases. First, our series on corporal punishment around the world resumes with Colombia, with Diego taking over as the interviewer as he sits down with Antonio for an interview and session

As for the bonus content, the second is “Odds & Ends 10,” a behind-the-scenes compilation video featuring various outtakes, deleted scenes, and more from our films released over the past six months.
